USB to RS-485 adapter

This adapter makes it possible to use virtually any PC with USB for real-time monitoring. The DIPs and straps are configured to work with the LogDator. A short cable for direct connection to the LogDator PCB is included, intended for benchtop testing.

USB power (5 V) is provided to the LogDator, for limited operation without batteries installed. For powering a network in the field another power source is required, nominally 9 V DC.

This adapter can also be used to listen in to the communication between a LogDator master and network slaves, which may be useful for third party development.

Cable for RS-485 network

Contains two twisted pairs, one for communication, and one for supplying power to the instruments. In an RS-485 network the instruments are daisy-chained (the instruments are connected along a single cable, not to many cables going out from a single point). The cable choice will partly depend on the required length and number of instruments.
